Ghost Whisperer – does it have a ghost of a chance?

Ghost Whisperer is/was a supernatural show on television, which ran on CBS from September 23, 2005 to May 21, 2010.

The television series follows the life of Melinda Gordon (Jennifer Love Hewitt), who has the ability to see and communicate with ghosts. While trying to live as normal a life as possible, Melinda helps them cross over into the light to the other side by working as an owner of an antique store, sometimes dealing with people who push her away, and disbelieve her ability. The show was created by John Gray and was produced by Sander/Moses Productions, in association with ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios. On May 18, 2010, CBS canceled the show after five seasons.

ABC had expressed interest in picking up Ghost Whisperer for Fall 2010. It was revealed on May 19, that writers of the show were informed to not look for other jobs as of yet, and the producers were very optimistic that there was a good chance of Ghost Whisperer being renewed by ABC.

On May 27, 2010 Michael Ausiello reported that ABC had passed on renewing Ghost Whisperer for its sixth season. The actors of the show are under contract until the end of June 2010. This might provide enough time for the producers to look for a cable channel to renew it.

Ghost Whisperer’s lead actress is Jennifer Love Hewitt with one of its other cast members, Jamie Kennedy. Hewitt is not only an actress but also a television director, voice actress, singer-songwriter, author and film and television producer.

Hewitt began her acting career as a child by appearing in television commercials and the Disney Channel series Kids Incorporated. She rose to fame in teenage popular culture via her roles in the Fox series Party of Five, as Sarah Reeves, and the films I Know What You Did Last Summer and its sequel, as Julie James.

Hewitt and other Ghost Whisperer cast members will be moving on to the “light.” For Hewitt and Jamie Kennedy, a new acting project is that of the film Cafe.

Cafe is a drama film which will be released in 2010 and directed by Marc Erlbaum. Its filming location finds place in Philadelphia. Its filming started on May 11, 2009. It will star Jennifer Love Hewitt as Claire, the main character and Jamie Kennedy.

If Ghost Whisperers does not continue, fear not, as there is a ghostly chance of another such “light” for its fans. There is a rumor that another ghost-related show might just surface.
