Every week, The Hot Zone features two Artists in our Head to Head Music Challenge.
Last week, Champion and Former American Idol contestant Jason Castro battled it out with The Emily Osment. Ultimately after 43,824 votes were cast, Jason Castro and their fans showed they have what it takes to continue on as the champion for the sixth straight week.
It’s a new week and a new challenge can Castro and his fans do it yet again?
This week, Champion Jason Castro challenges former season two American Idol contestant Kimberley Locke. Kimberley is releasing her new single “Strobelight” produced by Cutfather (Pussycat Dolls, Kylie Minogue, Christina Aguilera) & Papazarri and will be available everywhere digitally on April 6th via Randy Jackson’s new Dream Merchant 21 record label. Kimberley is the first artist Randy asked to join his label.

I saw something special in Jason ever since he first stepped on the Idol stage. And I’ve been following his career ever since. His new music is beautiful. He has got such a bright future ahead of him.

That would be exposure to other fanbases. Unfortunatley this ‘head-to-head’ has no new exposure for Jason. It pairs two American Idol artists against one another (same as Kimberly Caldwell) Both fanbases in question do know about each other (one artist likes to make derogatory comments about the other) and there will be no new exposure for either camp, which is a shame.
I thoroughly enjoyed some of the other contests…G.R.O.,Neon Trees, & Lovehammers… they introduced me to bands I have come to enjoy. Kimberly Locke will never happen for me. Sorry but I will vote to get Jason to the next competition and next fanbase.

both kimberly and jason can sing but im more of a fan of kimberlys because not only is her voice amazing she stands up for my rights to love wiether or not its right in americas eyes she has and always will have what it takes take that muffin heads
I have never heard of her saying anything bad about Jason, sounds like ur just trying to get people to not vote for her.. Wont work… Kimberley is the best by far…..
I don’t see how this helps Jason. I mean come on. Jason’s CD drops next week. So he’s the “champion” on this tiny little site because we vote for him, but it’s not helping spread the word of his CD to a bigger audience. Really, it’s like voting here does more to bring hits to this site, but it’s not going to increase his sale. JMHO.
Jason Castro gets my vote no matter who it is he is up against because I believe in his talent and musical abilities in both singing and song writing and he does not judge people by their looks. Sorry Kim. You were one of my favorites during your idol term but since you judged Jason, it is now personal. Yes it is.
Thanks Hotzone for this great Head to Head bec I am able to listen to a lot of other artists that are also great. I even enjoyed Kim Caldwell’s vid. Let’s keep moving Jason to the next challenge.
I find it funny that Jason’s fans are so enraged over some silly off-the-cuff comment Kimberley made several years ago. She’s on a couple occasions posted some tweets about his music to her fans – how horrible of her! Oh my!
I am glad to hear that Scott, because she made it quite clear she thought Jason had no talent. Her words, not ours.
Well, Scott…I can understand why you would find it amusing that we would still be fussing about some rather unkind “off the cuff” comment made a few years ago. After all, we are ALL human and are prone to letting our tongues run amok a time or two when it would have been wiser to remain silent. I realize Kimberley’s premature judgment of Jason’s intelligence was made during a time when many were misjudging Jason because of his dreadlocks and peaceful laid back demeanor. I think because she had previously been on AI made that particular comment that much more offensive because it was completely misguided and judgmental. I would have expected her to have been a little more gracious and kind. I can only hope that she regrets that careless comment, and realizes how far off base she was about Jason’s true character. I do appreciate hearing that she has been promoting Jason’s music to her fans…Thank you for mentioning that!
But you DO have to admit…Memories of that “ill fated” remark really gives the Jason Fans the kind of motivation and drive we need to want to fight to the bitter end of this particular contest

Over 50,000+ votes were placed by three different IP addresses in the past 24 hours. Which if split equally among the three IP address would be over 700+ votes an hour for a straight 24 hours. As we all know that would be humanly impossible. We had no choice but to remove those votes (effecting both sides – one IP address was voting for both .. I know I’m confused too!) and ban those IP addresses. We want a fair and fun challenge and do hope the situation has been resolved. I hope all of you understand. Thanks!

Kimberley showed me in an interview that she has no class when she said a certain s7 contestant was dumb as a box of rocks. Whateve! No love from me! She caan wallow in her obscurity.
Scott, IMHO saying that someone is dumb as box of rocks is not a silly off the cuff remark, it was derogatory and insulting. If she had said that he was not her favorite or that their we’re others who we’re better that would be a silly off the cuff remark. Saying someone is stupid and when you don’t the person at all rude. I’m glad she is being nicer to Jason now, but come on you know that was more than just a silly remark.

Rude? Sure. But it’s been 3 years. Have you said anything rude in the past few years? It’s time to get over it rather that sit around all bitter about it mass voting on a silly online poll.
Scott. I has not been 3 years. Jason first appeared on Idol 2 years ago in February and the comment was made the following summer, June or so when the Season 7 tour was starting. And yes we would love to get over it. It would have been nice if some sort of a clarification statement was made, stating maybe it was not meant the way it sounded. However, when I discussed it last year with someone who was in charge of Kimberly’s myspace, I was told that Kimberly says what she thinks. Oh, well. And we vote for Jason not to get back at Ms. Locke, but because we believe in Jason and his talent. If you have been following the last 6 challenges you will see we have consistently voted in large numbers.

That’s fine. I think it’s great you are supporting the artist you enjoy as long as that passion isn’t being redirected as spite towards somebody else. A “dumb as rocks” comment made however long ago it was isn’t the end of the world. The fact that she’s enjoying his new single enough to tweet about it must mean she feels differently these days. No point in dwelling in the past. She probably doesn’t even remember saying it. It was one comment in one interview.
