A “20/20″ special spilled some very interesting, and sometimes overheated secrets of “The Bachelor” mansion Monday on “Inside ‘The Bachelor’: The Stories Behind the Rose.” You may not want to hear it all, but it is time the truth came out!

Did you know Jake Pavelka, the show’s most recent bachelor, wasn’t the first choice for the season?
Actually, the producers wanted to have Reid Rosenthal from Jillian Harris’ season of “The Bachelorette” to be the bachelor, but Jake was just so sincere about finding love that they couldn’t turn him down.
Did you know there almost wasn’t “The Bachelor” or “The Bachelorette”?
After “Who Wants to Marry a Multimillionaire?” completely bombed and backfired, the head of FOX vowed the network would never air another reality show. Could we ever imagine a world without “The Bachelor,” “The Bachelorette” and, dare I say, “American Idol”?

Did you know “The Bachelorette” producers knew Wes was only after record sales?
Yup! I know you probably don’t want to read this, but producers knew right from the start that bachelor Wes Hayden was not there for the heart of “The Bachelorette” beauty Jillian. They knew he was only trying to sell records. So, why let him on the show, perhaps hurting Jillian in the long run? I have no idea. Most likely, they had him on for ratings. Wes told viewers he has been threw a lot (hair pulling, punching, drinks thrown on him) since being on “The Bachelorette” but doesn’t regret a moment of his time on the show. Plus, the producer had no problem saying that they are looking to cast villains for every season.
Do you know what the women do when the bachelor isn’t around?
Of course, they do a lot of whispering, but did you know they hold fake rose ceremonies? That’s what one of the bachelorettes claims. They also used to dress up in each other’s clothing, put on runway shows and make fun of the woman that was on the current date.
Did you know all contestants are tested for sexually transmitted diseases before being chosen?
Just a fun, and nice to know, fact! The bachelors and bachelorettes are also cosmetically worked on, if needed. “The Bachelor” British star Matt Grant was actually given $20,000 worth of dental work to get him ready to meet his lucky ladies.

Did you know the bachelors and the bachelorettes do have sex during filming?
You may not see it, but the producer said the men are averaging about three bachelorettes per season, with “The Bachelor” star Bob Guiney hitting the sheets with the most women – five and a half (whatever the half means)!
Did you know “The Bachelor” star Brad Womack has developed a “social anxiety” since not choosing anyone on the season finale of his season?
He said he went in to hiding after his season finale aired because of the strong backlash and hate he felt from all around him. He said he wishes so much that he could take back the intentional lies he told to bachelorette DeAnna Pappas. On the special, DeAnna and Brad reunited for the first time since their “After the Rose” special, but it was not as scary as Brad may have imagined. DeAnna told him that, after being “The Bachelorette” star, she understands what he went through and is happy he stood up for how he was feeling.
