Iraq War Veteran weighs in on new film “The Green Zone”

2010 Oscar for Best picture went to war epic “The Hurt Locker”, but how does it compare with new release “The Green Zone”? Former Iraq war veteran Christopher Galvin weighed in with me me on his thoughts of the Green Zone. Like Matt Damon’s character Galvin was there in the first weeks of the war in Iraq. In 2003 he parachuted into Iraq, and said that although “some of the situations” in his opinion were not were not plausible, the film was “very accurate”. “Down to the uniforms, the equipment even the streets it looked just like Iraq” said Galvin. “A lot of war-army movies we watched, especially since we came back from the war …you kinda can’t stomach, but this one was accurate, and it told a good story so I liked it” . When asked how it compares to the “Hurt Locker” Galvin says “The Hurt Locker” was a great movie but the situation that they found themselves in just l happen for real, this one’s a little more believable so I found it easier to enjoy this one”.
James Brown is headed to Fort Benning to serve as a medic in the US Army. After watching “The Green Zone” Brown said “It was a lot better than I thought it would be, had a great story-line, a lot of action and was a really good movie“. His girlfriend Lacey Maxwell said “ I don’t like thinking about him going over there”, but adds that she is really proud of him. But she enjoyed the film saying “I actually liked it, it was neat, it kept you into it.”
Joshua Hopkins was not a big Matt Damon fan before Green Zone but after seeing the film he said Damon “was really good.” ” I thought the movie was great, it kept me on the edge of my seat, and was action packed.” Hopkins who is also considering entering the National Guard says action movies like Green Zone inspired him to want to join the military.
