Tyra Banks picks Top 13, gives them fierce models on ‘America’s Next Top Model’ season 14 premiere

Tyra Banks picked her Top 13 models and gave them fierce makeovers on the season 14 premiere of “America’s Next Top Model.” The special 90-minute episode aired Wednesday, March 10, 2010.

Auditions began with 32 women. To narrow the competition down from 32 to 20, Tyra had the women pose for profile pictures and walk a net-walk for their MyFierce.com page. Jay handled the photo shoot, and Miss J handled the net-walk. After checking out the pages and meeting with each of the women, the women’s statuses were either labeled ‘Pending’ or ‘Declined.’

To get down to the final 13, the model wannabes had to choose a model to mimic for a photo shoot. Some of the women had it down pat and knew their famous super models, but a few of the women had no idea what they were doing. Alasia probably fell the hardest when she chose Naomi Campbell but didn’t know how to pose like her.

Most of the women loved their makeovers and thought they made themselves look so much more like a true supermodel, but there were a few that were not impressed with the show’s top stylist. Krista hated her slick, long ponytail. She looked beautiful, but she felt it was something she would do if she was being lazy with her hair. Brenda also had a difficult time, but her tears were very understandable. Tyra decided to chop her sexy, long red hair completely off. Maybe in the modeling world it looked good, but it was one of my least favorite makeovers ever. By the end, she seemed pretty OK and open with it, but I still felt bad.

By he end of the first episode, hair was the least of people’s frustrations because the bickering had begun. Several of the girls had issues with Angelea. Brenda felt like she was giving her dirty looks every time they were in the same room, and Anslee was annoyed with her constant negative attitude.

*Ren was brought in to the mix after the Los Angeles audition. Tyra felt she hadn’t quite found the right girl for the thirteenth spot, so she set out on another casting call. That is where she found Ren and invited her in to the mix
