The Academy Awards Forgot Farrah Fawcett – Here, Her Memory Lives On..
The Academy Awards, that was recently held (March 7, 2010), has, for years, included an ‘In Memoriam’ of those cast or crew who died the previous year.
This is an attempt to recognize Farrah Fawcett, the actress. It is in loving memory, her own “In Memoriam” so to speak, as well as a gentle reminder of who she was and what she shared with all of us, not only in film and television, but in life! (Photo, Farrah as Jill Munroe/NCM)
Michael Jackson, David Carradine, Dom Deluise, Patrick Swayze, Liam Neeson‘s wife, Natasha Richardson, among others, were remembered, Farrah Fawcett was not.

Actress Farrah Fawcett lost her fight with cancer on June 25, 2009. That day the world lost two wonderful entertainers, as Michael Jackson passed away as well.

This writer has waited to give the Academy a chance to explain the oversight. By the way, Bea Arthur was another actress not mentioned.
After Farrah’s partner, Ryan O’Neal asked, with daughter Tatum, ‘why,’ several sources came up with this response: ‘Leaving Farrah Fawcett’s name out was not an oversight, they (the Academy) does not include everyone.’

In honor of Farrah Fawcett here is, in loving memory, a small, heartfelt attempt to credit Farrah Fawcett and her work in the industry, through written word, photos and video clips. This is for you Farrah, your family, friends and your endless fans…
Farrah Leni Fawcett (February 2, 1947 – June 25, 2009) was a model, actress and artist. She was also a multiple Golden Globe and Emmy Award nominee who rose to international fame when she first appeared as private investigator Jill Munroe in the first season of the TV series Charlie’s Angels, in 1976.
Before becoming an ‘angel,’ Farrah first earned a degree in microbiology from the University of Texas. She also maintained a strong desire to act, and the reality to become an actress came closer to fruition after she moved to Hollywood.
Young Farrah later appeared off-Broadway to critical approval and in highly rated and critically acclaimed television movies, in roles often challenging, such as The Burning Bed, Nazi Hunter: The Beate Klarsfeld Story, Poor Little Rich Girl: The Barbara Hutton Story and Margaret Bourke-White.

Television commercials and episodic series helped Farrah to confirm her love of acting. Her natural beauty was soon recognized. Farrah’s first film project, after the success of “Charlie’s Angels,” was “Logan’s Run” (1976). This was a science fiction extravaganza from MGM that later developed an enduring cult audience.
Farrah has 16 film credits (as seen at NCM), and multiple more in television (as seen at IMDB). A few of the fellow actors Farrah has worked with are Richard Gere, Kirk Douglas, Burt Reynolds, Jaclyn Smith, David Doyle, Helen Hunt, Harvey Keitel, Kate Jackson, Jeff Bridges, Queen Latifah, Robert Duvall, Danny Glover… some of them are recognized in photos and film footage. ~ Enjoy!
