Janell, Ashley, Joe and Tyler first four eliminated from ‘American Idol’ season nine

Janell Wheeler, Ashley Rodriguez, Joe Munoz and Tyler Grady were the first four singers eliminated from “American Idol” season nine on the first results show Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010. 

Before the show began, judge Simon Cowell was asked if he believed he was harsher last night than previous nights. He said he was just trying to help because some of the performances the second night were not that good.

Judge Ellen DeGeneres was asked what she thought of the first week of the semifinals, which was also her first week as a judge. She said she does feel people need to step it up a little more as the weeks progress, but she understands that nerves may have gotten to a few of the contestants because it was their first time performing in front of such a large audience.

Along with performances from the Top 24, former “American Idol” contestant Allison Iraheta and “American Idol” winner Kris Allen returned to the stage for two stunning performances. Kris’ performance was especially touching, as he was singing on behalf of Idol Gives Back’s Haiti relief fund.
