No ‘Sorry for Partyin’ needed with Bowling for Soups return to the stage

Bowling for Soup made their return to the Twin Cities area Saturday night in support of their new album “Sorry for Partyin.” In true BFS style the band delivered the best of all their albums combined with comical horseplay. The onstage hijinks ranged from

interrupting their song for both a beer break to stopping the show mid-set to pose for a full band photo op (much to the delight of the fans). These Texas rockers filled the show full of perverted and at times disgusting banter while some how remaining hilarious and even heartwarming. It would have been impossible to walk away from the show with out a smile on your face.

In what seems like a comedy routine at times ultimately remained a rock show. This band is extremely talented and unlike many bands they have kept their lineup intact over the past 11 years. You can tell these guys truly like one another. This was most evident by their rapport and comedic timing on stage. The solid vocals and over all musical stage presence rounded out the show for an extremely enjoyable evening. BFS performed all of their hits including “Girl all the Bad Guys Want,” “Almost” and “1985.” They mixed up the set with a variety of tracks from their new album and a solid cover of Katy Perry’s hit Hot’n'Cold. The band concluded the evening shortly after midnight performing the first track from the new album “A Really Cool Dance Song.”

Stars after the Storm from Lacrosse, WI and Minneapolis’ Green Sweater Society opened the show at St Paul’s Station 4 followed by the Bay areas MC Lars. Hip Hop meets rock MC Lars is currently signed to Bowling for Soup’s label Crappy Records.

Speaking with lead singer Jaret Reddick after the show he explained how the tour had been put together last minute because they were growing restless at home and missed being on stage. Reddick also confirmed the band plans on returning to the road (and the area) sometime in early 2010.
